Traditional French décor of the 19th century, a bronze and black slate ewer. This pitcher would have been placed on the mantle most likely originally there was a pair. Today we are offering a single ornamental jug made in France in the mid 1800’s. It is made from solid bronze and depicts a cherub holding a cup towards the sky. One side it has two cherubs crushing grapes, the other side another relief panel cherubs holding grapes. The handle is tall and slender acanthus grape leaves. It is done in the renaissance revival style, repousse and elaborate decoration. It is very heavy.
